Gwangju To Your Room

Hello. My name is Dimmy. I used to live in South Korea. I lived in a small town called Gwangju. Some of what you read may be offensive, humorous, or just plain stupid. I now live in Jacksonville, FL. These are my stories.

My Friend Pat

This post is solely dedicated to my friend Pat

Pat is a child-hood friend. We first met in the trivia club back in middle school. Since then, we grew as closer friends in high school and ended up falling out of touch throughout college and the beginning of our adult lives.

I always took Pat for granted. He was a great friend and sometimes I took advantage of that. I was kind of a jerk to him and I regret it.

We were suppose to go to the University of Florida together. We went together for our first out-of-town roadtrip up to Gainesville. It was exciting to check out the University and we hoped of rooming together. For some reason, the University of Florida decided my high GPA and SAT scores were not enough; I guess they met their quota for Asians.

I ended up going to the University of North Florida and we grew further apart.

Pat and I have been on some great trips; Gainesville, South Korea, even San Francisco. He’s probably my best friend, and it’s a shame we don’t stay in touch.

We’ve each taken different directions with our lives. He’s now up in New Hampshire and I’m stuck here in Jacksonville. Although our career paths are different, I wish we still kept in touch more.

I hope to visit him up north and hopefully go on a roadtrip through Maine, hitting up local lobster shacks, maybe even a trip to Montreal.

We’ll see what the future brings. Pat, I’m sorry, I miss you.
