I know I’m on vacation… but I’ve finally gotten to a computer! So, Singapore and Penang Island were both awesome. I’m finally in Kuala Lumpur. We somehow got upgraded at the Ritz Carlton to a Executive Suite; we get our own personal butler. This place is fantastic. My friend and I both have around $400 left and intend to spend every last penny of it.
I will post in...
I’m leaving for Singapore/Malaysia in 13 hours! Get ready to party!

The hype is real. Avatar was one of the most incredible movies I’ve ever seen. The amount of detail is absolutely ridiculous. See it in IMAX 3D if you can.
My friends and I met up at the bus terminal, home of the CGV Imax theater, at around 2:30. We were incredibly disappointed to find that the 3:00PM show was sold out. The next showing was around 9:40PM which was nearing the sell-out...
Eat. Drink. Gwangju. →
jessicainkorea:
My mouth is watering at Jimmy Denfield’s descriptions of restaurants in Gwangju and all around South Korea. I’ll definitely be following his suggestions!
Woohoo! Finally getting some love.

I’m moving to teach English in the ROK on January 7, 2010. I’ll be in Gwangju, a moderately-sized city near South Korea’s southern border.

Microsoft Arc: Review
So tonight I purchased Microsoft’s new “Arc” mouse. I’ve been using it for about a couple of hours, and I’ve got to say… I like it… a lot!
It’s stylish and surprisingly comfortable. It also comes with batteries! The highlight of this thing is that is folds in half. Another amazing thing is that the USB dongle is smaller than a penny and...
Salmon
Hey brother. So this morning I went to the doctor and got to spend some time out of work. About an hour and 26,000W later, I was prescribed roughly four days of antibiotics. This means that I’m officially (for health reasons) off of the booze for a while. I go to Malaysia/Singapore next Friday, so we’ll resume boozing back then.
So, since I’m home and not at the bar,...
I’ve got a 9:00AM appointment with a doctor I’ve seen far too frequently. Christ, what a terrible way to end the first full day of snow in Gwangju.
AES - FUCK YOU
Why do Koreans insist that all foreigners are drug users?
Why do Koreans insist that all foreigners are child molesters?
Why do Koreans insist that all foreigners carry AIDS/HIV?
Why do Koreans insist that all foreigner men are here to violate Korean womanhood?
Fuck the AES (anti-English spectrum).
It would be incredibly easy to duplicate that piece of propaganda bullshit using a...
Miller Time Madness with a side of Bullshit
Poongam Tuesdays kick ass. Something originally started by myself and an Aussie. It involved us getting drunk on a Tuesday. That trend died when he left. With the addition of Andrew at my work, we have revived it, and blown it up.
So a bunch of us meet up at Miller Time (a western style bar serving Miller Genuine Draft out of the tap) in the bigger Poongam and socialize. Last night was just...

Blog 'Till I Die
It’s 11:00PM. I’m tired. I’m bored. I’m alone.
One of the things about living in Korea is dealing with boredom and loneliness. The boredom is balanced out with countless movies to watch or favorite TV programs. I’ve seen many shows I would’ve normally never watched! I’m glad for that. I’ve also recently been getting back in to cooking, which...

Jinju
So, this weekend was our third boy’s weekend. Boy’s weekend is essentially a small group of guys who travel all around Korea to explore what it has to offer. We usually do a little bowling as well as check out the local bar scene and nightlife. Since September we have traveled to Namhae and Jeonju. Both trip were exciting and fun, in their own ways. Our third trip brought us to...
It's Official!
My friend Jimmy and I bought our bus tickets to Incheon Airport. We leave Christmas day at 4:00AM. I am so incredibly pumped about this trip. It’s the first time I’ll have a proper vacation while living in Korea! Woohoo!
Boy’s weekend was great. We ended up going to Jinju. It was a great weekend and I’ll post pictures later!
Tumblr.
Tumblr. is fucking awesome.
My school on the other hand? It sucks balls. I’m aiming for public school, or freelance.
S. Korea to Ban Smoking in Public Places →
myradventures:
kellyinkorea:
Wow. Didn’t expect that to ever happen. An excerpt from The Korea Times:
South Korea will ban all indoor and outdoor smoking in public places starting in 2011 to substantially reduce the country’s smoking rate, the government said Wednesday. The Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs said the move aims to bring down the smoking rate among men in the...

Four Days Clean
Tonight marks the fourth night that I’ve cooked dinner for myself. It’s unbelievable how quick and easy cooking yourself is. The time it took me to whip up a tuna salad, heat it in a pan, melt some cheese, cut tomatoes and fry an egg took literally about four minutes. That’s a typical wait in a Korean fast-food line.
So far I’ve made a teriyaki chicken, mushroom and...

After a long Monday meeting, the foreign staff were told that we would be teaching music class this week. This coming Saturday is a parent’s day to see their children perform an English play. There’s been a ton of pressure put on the kids and we are already practicing for more than two hours a day. That is so damn boring by the way.

Post Fatigue
After three hours of scrubbing and washing, my apartment is clean again!
My kitchen is clean and organized. I threw away year-old jars of who-knows-what and old boxed stuffing.
I’ll be honest. I’ve been watching Jamie Oliver’s Ministry of Food and its totally motivated me to go out and buy produce and proteins, and get cooking!
Tonight I made a chili chicken with onions...
Fatigue
Enough is enough. I’m cleaning my apartment until it’s spotless. I’ve just bought good groceries.
Korea is expensive man. Just to buy some chicken, vegetables, garbage bags and cleaning supplies cost nearly $35. Maybe it was the $4 orange juice I bought.
It’s time to try getting back on my feet. I’ve been so lost with everything and kind of forget the way I...
